Celebrate BC Parks 100

On March 11, 1911, Strathcona Provincial Park was the first park to be introduced into the newly established British Columbia Provincial Park System. Since then, this network of parks has become one of the largest in the world!

Sea to Sky Park Services will be hosting events throughout 2011 and would like to invite you all to participate and join the festivities, whether it is at a park operated by Sea to Sky Park Services or another Provincial Park.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park will be hosting the last event run by Sea to Sky Parks this season on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 from 11:00am until late in the walk-in campsite field.

Event Schedule.

  • 11:00am - noon Hectic Habitats hosted by Janet Hutchison
  • 2:00pm - 3:00pm Scavenger hunt
  • 3:00pm - 5:00pm Touch table provided by Janet Hutchison; colouring; painting; Bear Aware information
  • 3:15pm - 4:00pm Prizes for scavenger hunt; Draw prize draw; Cake cutting
  • 7:00pm - 7:30pm Astronomer Bill Burnyeat will be hosting a slide show of the galaxies
  • 10:00pm, if weather permits, viewing from high powered telescope
